Four siblings chipped in for this Mother's Day present, a painting of a home their mother adored. She had special affection for the tree out front, the bench, and delighted in her hanging plants. So they are all highlighted, with everything in bloom.

A portrait of a home can take artistic license! The stone wishing well, bottom right of painting, is actually much farther away, but the Sussmans loved it, so we decided to just move it over–for sentiment and balance. Also, the Sussmans’ pride and joy was the many-paned bay window, so I took it out from the shadows and painted it in all its rich, detailed glory.

We adore this painting. When we saw it, my husband said,“There it is, there’s your house, all right!”
