Bob and Selma wanted to celebrate their retirement with a portrait. These two did everything together: taking courses, going folk dancing, hosting book clubs. I tried to show this closeness. “It looks so much like us that visitors to our living room sometimes say, Oh!, with astonishment. This portrait is truly us!”

This was a surprise birthday present from Devon Hill to his fiancée Joy. They loved having a good time; their personality as a couple was joyful and playful. I used primary colors to capture Devon and Joy’s vivacious, outgoing ways.
